TORONTO STAND UP!

Hip hop and Toronto right now goes hand in hand. Toronto is receiving a mass amount of attention to it’s hip hop scene thanks to a few supernovas hailing from the great T.O.

Drake has just blown up into a HUGE hip hop star, world wide stardom, there is no stopping him. With him he took 40 outta Toronto, his producer/engineer and then Drake has Toronto native, Boi-1da produce Forever which had 4 out of 5 of the biggest names in hip hop right now on the track.

Now, Toronto is having a huge producer competition to highlight some hot talent in our city. Thanks to Sound Battle Royale and Tonika, some talent is going to rise to the top real fast.

I present to you now, what Jack Johnson is to Hawaii, Jamie Flegg is to Southern Ontario. With unmistakable talent, a voice to go with it and alot of determination I am more than excited to watch Jamie’s journey.

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY

Today is a great day. I am photographing a high end bridal fashion shoot this evening and while nailing out some high end photos to work with I am co-directing 2 movies with the one and only Miguel Barbosa.

As well, in a few minutes we will be recording Jamie Flegg doing cover of Arcade Fire’s “Sprawl II” which will be great, he’s already recorded it and we’re doing an impromptu video session. We’ll be micing him with three mics. All videos should be up within 24 hours along with a few photos.

JUMP MOUNTAIN CLOTHING COMPANY

Today was definitely a great day. Headed towards Oakville to hook up with my faithful creative head Miguel from Yeah Films. We partnered up with fellow Toren Veda blogger Trevor Blades and a few other dudes to shoot some skate shots. All the guys were wearing Jump Mountain clothing, donated obviously by JM, so thankyou to them for making this shoot so stylish.

DRESS FITTING

In less than two weeks I will be photographing  a quick creative high end fashion bridal session to create some new and unique images. Angie’s Bridal, in Waterdown, ON has been kind enough to donate a beautiful wedding dress for the photo shoot and Hello Gorgeous Hair Salon has donated a free bridal hair session for the model.

Here is just a real quick behind the scenes of the dress fitting.

Here is Jon & Taylor. I photographed them in Burlington on Wednesday night to celebrate their 1 year anniversary which was in May (CONGRATS!)

Photographing these 2 was a great time, they had a vision of what they wanted in their images and we were able to bring those images to a reality for them. We also just wandered around Lakeshore and found some unique spots to shoot at which set the scene for some great aesthetics for the images (see flower shots).

I am excited about how all of these images turned out, here are 3 of my favorite from the shoot:

Jon & Taylor weren’t interested in the same old same old type of shots that you may see on repeat on certain photographers websites. They wanted unique, fun photos which captured how they are on an everyday basis, not in a posed position.

WOW.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted. I don’t like it. Feels wrong. I miss you all. I haven’t shot for a bit because of my part time job turning into a full time job for the last 2 week so that I can earn some much needed cash.

But now, there are some exciting shoots coming up:

• MAJOR bridal fashion shoot going down in 2-3 weeks
• 2 fun and creative headshots for 2 awesome people in the next week
• a creative furniture company advertisement (2 series)
• a funny video of a dude singing in Dundas Square will be up on Youtube today
• a creative, artsy video of Toronto to some Jonsi will be up on Youtube early next week
• a music video targeted for early August
• who knows what else…

But for now, I have two things to share. One – I am now a blogger on Toren Veda (YES) It’s about time. I blog about hip hop/rap and photography and then whatever else interests me at the time when I feel like blogging. Miguel and I have been collaborating alot over the last month and it looks like that streak of awesome will continue over August as well. We are brewing up some cool concepts and have been hired to do some great videos for a few Torontonians.

Miguel and I collaborated with DJ Twigg from Ottawa to create THIS video – take a minute and take it in.

My boys in Can’t Stop Won’t Stop have just launched a new myspace as well which is great news – go on over to their myspace and check out the new design that has a bunch of my images all over it, stoked on the layout for sure, cheers to Zero Art who did the design.
